What the date means
Matched visually to Galt accession 19841071037. Galt's Date Range is 1940 -1978; its Scope and Content says circa 1978. Prairie Towns labels the same scene 1929. That conflicting secondary date is preserved as source metadata, not adopted as the photograph date.
Source context
Visually matched to Galt accession 19841071037: both men, station, tracks and three elevators are in identical positions. Galt names the men as Duel (J. J.) Secretan and Scotty Train. This larger web rendition was downloaded separately from Prairie Towns and retains its Galt watermark; it is not substituted for the separately preserved Galt web image. Heritage of the High Country (1981), p. 46, also captions the same photograph as Duel Secretan and Scotty Train in front of the station house; its caption gives no date.
